A big thanks to Tanya Davies MP, Member for Mulgoa and Gladys Berejiklian, NSW Premier for organising a grant of $9,000 to convert more of our lighting at the Luddenham Showground over to LED. The cheque was handed over at a Community Lunch held last month in Mulgoa.

Well done and thank you to Liverpool Council for repairing the footpath on the Northern Road. The footpath has been deteriorating for a few years and it is much better now.

Western Sydney International Airport has launched bus tours for groups (at the moment). The first tour was launched by WSA CEO Graham Millett, Melissa McIntosh MP, Federal Member for Lindsay and Local Community FOWSA member Wayne Willmington. Local groups can book a tour at airportshuttletour@wsaco.com.au. The tour is made up of a multimedia presentation and sightseeing, as you go around to selected parts of the airport.

The NSW Government proposes to build a new TAFE campus in the Aerotropolis, to deliver specialised training in fields like construction carpentry, electrical and plumbing. The new campus will be located close to the Western Sydney Airport. The capacity for the campus is 3,500 enrolments, assuming 700 apprentices per year. The estimated cost is $79.6 million.

Sydney Metro Greater West is carrying out early site investigations. This work is part of early planning work to help develop the project design of the Sydney Metro Greater West, the new metro railway line which will service Greater Western Sydney and the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport. The new railway will include stations at the airport, Western Sydney Aerotropolis and St Marys – where customers can connect with the rest of Sydney’s existing suburban rail network. This line will pass through parts of Luddenham and we understand there will be a station in the Science Park, however, not sure if there will be any other stations in Luddenham.

August is the month of Annual General Meetings. The Progress Association’s meeting is on Wednesday 7th at 8:00pm in the Hall. Anyone that lives in Luddenham is welcome to attend and become a member (new members welcome). On Wednesday the 14th at 8:00pm at the Showground, the Show Society will hold its AGM. Once again, new members are welcome, and membership is available to residents of the district (not just Luddenham).

If you have an opinion on what Luddenham of the future should be like, please email your thoughts or views to willmingtons@bigpond.com.
