Warragamba resident Beryl Scott celebrated her 100th birthday at the Warragamba Workers Club on July 27th with 100 of her closest friends and family.
Mrs. Scott’s family travelled from all over Australia for the very special celebration.
Beryl was born at Rockdale in New South Wales on the 25th July 1919 and was one of seven children.
In 1941, she set off on a working holiday around Australia and the first stop was as a waitress in Bargo. Whilst working there, she met Herb Scott. Needless to say, that was the end of her working adventure and the start of a marriage that lasted almost 50 years.
Beryl and Herb moved to Warragamba in 1947 with their twin sons Robert and John, as Herb worked on the construction of the Warragamba Dam. Soon after, they had another son Stephen, followed by a daughter Susan.
Beryl has 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Beryl still lives in the family home of 72 years. She enjoys bingo at the local club on Tuesdays, senior citizens on Wednesdays and playing euchre at the neighbourhood cottage.
