Mulgoa resident and owner of Digital Antenna GuyS Electrical Rick Jenkins and friend Adam Swords are set for the adventure of a lifetime when they join a convoy of teams in the S*#!box Rally, Australia’s largest independently-run fundraiser for Cancer Council.
2019 marks the tenth S*#@box Rally – this time travelling from Perth on 8th May to reach Sydney by 17th May 2019.
S*#@box Rally is a challenge to drive cars worth $1,000 or less across Australia via some of its toughest roads to raise money for cancer research. This remarkable event has raised more than $16 million since the first rally in 2010.
Rick and Adam make up the ‘Just Busted’ team. They have recently purchased a 12-year-old Volkswagen Transporter that has done 300,000 kilometres. The team are working hard to have the car ready to complete the 5,000-kilometre trip.
To participate, each team must raise a minimum of $5,000.
Both Rick and Adam’s Fathers have survived from Prostate Cancer and they are passionate to do their part to help find a cure before others suffer needlessly.
Box Rallies Founder James Freeman said that the S*#@box Rally is not a race, but a reward for fundraising efforts. “This is a chance to explore Australia, drawing teams from around the country to help achieve the extraordinary. 2019 is the longest rally in SBR history. Travelling West to East, the terrain usually doesn’t change as much as the South to North rallies, but that said, we are not staying on the same latitude so there will still be significant variation in terrain. There will still be a number of surprises for the teams and it will be a truly epic journey. We’re grateful for the support of the teams who take part and the communities who help them to fundraise”.
