Gregory Hills based gymnastics club, Rec Alley, has been awarded the Large Club of the Year 2018 Award at the annual Gymnastics NSW Awards Night. Rec Alley has been recognised for its large membership growth, staff development, gymnastics programming and local community initiatives.
Rec Alley owners and Macarthur locals, Alysha and Joel Anderson, opened the gymnastics club in March 2017 with a goal to provide local kids a great way to keep active and healthy. Beyond gymnastics, Rec Alley focuses in-club education on anti-bullying, diversity, inclusivity and wellbeing.
Joel attributed winning the award to the passion and hard work of the club’s coaching and management team.
“Winning the award is a big recognition to the Rec Alley team who have worked with passion over the last two years to bring the local community an engaging and quality gymnastics program”.
Alysha, who is also a local school teacher, pointed to the club’s community-centric philosophy as a driver for the award.
“We’ve always said, it’s about the health and wellbeing of our local kids and their families. With our community at the centre of everything we do, we’ve built a club around them. Our coaching and management team work tirelessly to ensure their needs are met”.
