Emu Plains Football Club are set to have their biggest year yet, taking the field in record numbers for the 2024/25 season.
This year will see a total of 59 teams represent the club in the local Nepean Football Association (NFA) Competition. Consisting of 879 players, coaches, and managers, it is a sizable increase from 660 just the season before.
“We are all looking forward to the season ahead” said Briege McCauley, President of Emu Plains Football Club.
“The club hopes to have a few more teams make their respective grand finals. We also have three intermediate girl’s teams playing in the one division, so maybe we can have a 1, 2, 3 finish. Fingers crossed” she continued to the Emu and Leonay Gazette.
With player, coach, and manager numbers all but complete, one spot only remains unfilled in their Under 5’s team.
There were many highlights on the pitch for the red, white and blue’s last year.
“We had lots of memorable moments. Just watching the smiles on the kid’s faces after they had played or won their games was great. New players, especially our Under 5’s, scoring their first goals. Also, those teams that both made the finals and won their grand finals” Briege explained.
Briege believes the club’s success has a lot to do with the hard work and dedication of the committee and volunteers.
“To see how far the club has come and how much it has grown is thanks to the committee. We wouldn’t have a club if it wasn’t for their help. Our club is very family oriented, and we have lots of volunteers who put their hand up” she concluded.
Emu Plains Football Club would like to thank all their sponsors this year, including Emu Sports Club, Amcal Chemist, AH Glass Fencing, Lone Star Penrith, and Insane Lifting.
