Jordan Springs Netball Club players are ready and waiting to take the court for the upcoming 2024 Penrith District Netball Association (PDNA) Competition.
The new netball season begins on Saturday 4th May 2024, with games being played at Jamison Park in Penrith and concludes on Saturday 21st September 2024.
This year will see 22 teams representing Jordan Springs in the local competition. This will consist of 18 Junior teams (Under 6’s to Under 17’s) and 4 Senior teams (Under 18’s +).
Season 2023 brought with it many highlights for the popular local club.
“Last season saw 13 of our 17 competition teams qualify for semi-finals. We had 6 teams make the grand finals, with 2 of these teams being crowned Premiers. We had 2 umpires receive National Umpiring Badges, and 4 receive District Badges” said Michelle Barnes, President of Jordan Springs Netball Club.
Heading into the new season, Michelle and her fellow committee members are looking forward to a big year.
“We have a few new coaches this year, and we hope to run some training sessions for them and our returning coaches in the coming months. We have a lot of players seeking to learn how to umpire this year, this is a promising sign, because without umpires, we can’t put teams on the court” she stated.
“We also have a lot of new players, so I will be eager to see how they all progress over the course of the season” Michelle added.
With team numbers all but complete, the club welcomes any potential volunteers and sponsors.
“At present, we have one spot available in the Under 7’s, Under 11’s, Under 15’s, Under 17’s and Seniors. We are still looking for a coach for one team and are always looking for more volunteers to help out in various capacities. We are always looking for sponsors large or small. All enquiries can be made to jsnetball@gmail.com” she ended.
