Community spirit is alive and well in Mulgoa Valley and this was on show last month, when Silverdale Rural Fire Brigade (RFB) threw open their doors to host the Silverdale RFB Thanks Our Community Day for our local residents.
This was in response to the enormous amount of support that was given to Silverdale RFB and the emergency services teams who helped protect the community from the recent bush fires that devastated the country.
Many people attended the day of celebration, where there was fun and activities for the whole family. This included face painting, jumping castle, free showbags, sausage sizzle, guessing competition, live bands, displays and demonstrations.
“I have three family members that are active with Silverdale RFB and I’ve watched them fight fires all day and night this season. During this time, the locals have been very generous and supportive towards the brigade. Whether they were donating food or water, coming for a chat or checking on the team’s welfare, the community have gone above and beyond” said Carolyn Lambeth, Event Organiser of the Silverdale RFB Thanks Our Community Day.
“The idea to give back and thank the community by organising the day was something the brigade supported” she added.
The day would not have been as successful as it was without the help of local friends, families and businesses who donated.
“This was a combined, mammoth effort from all. We greatly appreciate everyone involved with making this vision a reality. Thank you for getting behind the brigade. It really was a day for the community and a show of solidarity for Silverdale RFB” Carolyn ended.
