With his debut race season a success in 2018, Silverdale’s Joshua Car has started this year red hot and is leading the F4 United States Championships after six rounds.

The Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport driver is currently in first place on 113 points in the 2019 Championship Standings, almost halfway into the season.

“This year has been going very well. We have done 6 races so far this season in F4. I have finished on the podium in all races this year, claiming victory in Atlanta and another win in Pittsburgh. With this, I am currently leading the F4 United States Championships with 11 races still to go! I have also raced in national level karting in the US and won the first round of the National Karting Championships in California, against 50 other top-level drivers” Joshua told the Mulgoa Valley Gazette.

Reflecting on his debut season, Joshua was pleased with how he raced, “I started the year with everything new such as equipment, techniques to learn and tracks to race, in a much bigger team environment. I ended up claiming 2 wins in 2018 and 4 podiums in the F4 United States Championships”.

Whether it’s racing in the US or in Australia, Joshua explained that it comes down to the competition and not necessarily where the track is that makes the difference, “It doesn’t matter where you are racing, it is always really close and competitive. I think the benefits of racing in the US is the ability to show yourself to a bigger market and the scholarships they reward for success. For example, the winner of the F4 United States Championships gets a prize to race Formula 3 the following season. This is the prize I am working very hard for this year”.

For now, Joshua is enjoying living life on the other side of the world and he appreciates the opportunities that he is receiving in his racing career in the US.

“Life is great in the US. I live in Dallas, Texas with a family who has gifted me this opportunity to race over here. I work a lot on a karting team acting as a driver/coach in between my races and I am constantly travelling around the country. Other than that, I am always training and try to play an active role in my team to help ensure that we have everything we need to win this year’s championships” he said.

Joshua’s proud local family continue to support him and watch him follow his dreams, “My husband, daughter and I have been to see Joshua race twice. When we are not there, we have a lot of sleepless nights. We set alarms to watch timing and we then have his team Facebook Live us. We never miss a race” ended Tanya Car, Joshua’s mother.
